Chi Rho is our men's household in the heart of Greek Row. The mission of Chi Rho is to live in a deep relationship with God and one another in a community of strong brotherhood, form confident mature Christian men, and invite others into that - generously, richly, and for sure imperfectly. The men of the household will embody this by sharing two weekly meals as a household, in addition to partaking in morning prayers as a household two times a week, and serving as student missionaries evangelizing the college community.
Authentic brotherhood and community are something that our society lacks in a genuine way. Even though we are more connected online than ever, depression, anxiety, and loneliness have never been more prevalent. Especially in this post-pandemic world isolation and separation are rampant. Young people are desperate to be a part of a real community, brotherhood and sisterhood, and deep relationships with one another. The house is especially focused on creating a community of brotherhood which our entire Catholic Cougs community of men will build upon. Brotherhood is created by organically formulating a community of men who are running after the same thing: Our Lord. They want to embody an atmosphere of service to one another and always put their brother before themselves. With 11 men living under one roof chasing after the same thing they will live a life of accountability towards our faith and aim to always be calling each other on to greatness. They will strive their best to live for Our Lord, through others.
Our women’s household, Victoria House, will serve as a home for women to grow in identity and foster sisterhood. We want to develop a way of life that will transform the woman within the house so that they can reflect God’s love for women that they encounter in their everyday lives.
Society puts so much pressure on young women to place their identity by unrealistic social standards. These expectations push women to try to change who they are so they can fit into a mold, in order to feel accepted. However, this constant striving leaves them feeling isolated, depressed, hopeless, and empty. These women have a deep longing in their hearts to be a part of a sisterhood.
By living in deep relationships, the Victoria House wants to be a place where women can own their identity as daughters of the Father -- imperfect and beautiful. The 3 women living together will live in the light, sharing their hearts with one another and holding each other accountable for living with their eyes on God. By participating in morning prayer 3 times a week and sharing in dinners together twice a week, they will develop a deeper commitment to Christ and a heart for the other, with the goal of inviting others into this way of life.
This household is a critical foundation to the greater mission of women’s ministry on campus and in our greater community. By forming a strong sisterhood of women, who live out of their beauty and know their worth as daughters of God, we hope to radiate His light to our fellow sisters and invite them to be transformed by the love of the Father.
